Jagatsinghpur: Police on Monday claimed to have busted a suspected sex racket by apprehending five persons, including two women, in Purohitpur area of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at a rented house where the illegal racket was operating for a long time. During the raid, a woman, stated to be a sex worker, was rescued, while the alleged organiser kingpin and four others were detained for questioning.
Police said three others, including two men and a woman, managed to escape during the raid. The detained individuals are being questioned as part of the investigation.
Police seized 10 mobile phones, Rs 3,750 in cash, some incriminating materials during the operation.
The raid comes amid intensified police action against suspected illegal sex trade activities in different parts of the district under the ‘Operation Asha Jyoti’.
