New Delhi: Nitin Nabin, BJP’s youngest president who took over reins of the party in January, is angry.
Upset with three party MPs — Ramvir Bidhuri, Yogender Chandoliya and Kamaljeet Sehrawat – the 46-year-old Nabin has summoned them, NDTV reported.
The trio’s fault was that they visited the house of 1984 Sikh riots convict Sajjan Kumar to offer condolences to the family following his death.
“They shouldn’t have gone,” Nabin said.
It adds to the controversies around Sajjan, a former Congress MP who passed away at the age of 80 earlier this month while serving a life sentence for killing five men during the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi following the assassination of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Congress leader Deepender Hooda was roundly criticised by his party a few days ago for condoling Sajjan’s demise and publicly praising the controversial figure.
Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi was among a clutch of Congress leaders who slammed Hooda. Even BJP had joined the chorus.
Now, it’s the turn of BJP MPs to face the music.
BJP leader HS Phoolka has called for the boycott of Bidhuri, Chandoliya and Sehrawat.
Phoolka, who fought a long legal battle over the 1984 riots, condemned the trio’s visit to Sajjan’s residence and said that thoughts and prayers should be reserved for the victims of the riots and their families.
“I call for the boycott of these 3 MPs,” said Phoolka in a post on social media.
