New Delhi: The remarks by a top Communist Party of India (CPI) leader against Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sparked a political row, with the BJP hitting back with a “Dimagi Naxal” jab.
While speaking at a rally in Delhi, CPI national secretary Amarjeet Kaur appeared to issue an open threat to PM Modi by saying, “Tumko nipta dalenge” (we will finish you off).
She then goes on to ask the audience: “Nipta dalenge naa?”
Before saying this, Kaur mentioned an alleged earlier remark by the Prime Minister about communists and said the BJP leader had described communists and their red flags as dangerous.
“Mr Narendra Modi, we know from the beginning who you want to kill. Today, we have come to say that we will finish you off (tumko nipta dalenge),” Kaur said at the rally.
“We will finish them off. This is what we have come to say,” she added.
Kaur defended her comments and refused to apologise, while speaking to News18 after her speech.
“I stand by what I said, and I will not apologise. If PM can say ‘communist ko nipta do’, then why can’t I?” she said.
Her remarks have triggered a political confrontation between the CPI and the BJP.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari reacted to Kaur’s statement, accusing the Left leader of having a “Naxal mindset”.
“Amarjeet Kaur, National Secretary of the Communist Party of India, says, ‘Hum Modi Ko Nipta Daalenge’. This is why PEOPLE of India hate CPM! This is a ‘Dimagi Naxal Mindset’!” Bhandari said in a post on social media.
