Baripada: All schools will remain closed in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday in view of a red warning of extremely heavy rain issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD).
Officials said the decision to keep the schools shut was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the weather conditions.
According to information, the instruction for complete closure applies to all government primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools.
In case of private schools, classes have been ordered to be cancelled after 10 am on Thursday.
It may be noted that the IMD has placed districts such as Kendujhar, Baleshwar and Bhadrak under an orange warning. Besides, most of the remaining districts have been placed under a yellow alert.
