Gurugram: The prime accused in the Gurugram hit and run case, Kalyan Bainsla, on Monday claimed he wasn’t aware that a woman was riding the motorcycle. He has been accused of chasing and ramming his car into the two-wheeler that was being rode by a woman biker in Gurugram on Sunday morning.
The accused, as mentioned in an India Today report, was going to his cousin’s place when the incident happened. He claimed two bikers repeatedly overtook him from the side. He has also alleged that the bikers moved ahead of his car and then slowed down. “I did not hit them intentionally,” Bainsla told India Today. He also apologised that the woman was injured.
The videos of the incident that were recorded on cameras mounted on the bikers’ motorcycles had been doing the rounds on social media. The woman alleged that the occupants of the car followed her. She alleged rash driving by the driver before her bike being hit by the car.
The viral videos had prompted police action. Gurugram cops had taken suo motu cognisance of the incident. They had registered an FIR against an unidentified person. The injured biker had also said she would file an FIR.
Bainsla, however, alleged that the videos did not show the complete picture. “They were repeatedly coming in front of me and then slowing down the bike,” he said. He asked the reporter to check the CCTV footage.
“Let’s assume that the collision happened accidentally. I accept that a mistake happened,” Bainsla said.
“I am sorry that a mistake happened. I did not know that there was a girl on it,” he added.
