Brahmapur: A fire broke out at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Brahmapur city on Tuesday.
According to preliminary information, the fire erupted in the anaesthetist room on the second floor of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of the hospital’s operation theatre.
No one was reported to have been injured due to the fire, suspected to have been triggered by an electric short circuit.
Sources said no patient was present when smoke was seen emanating from the room. Patients admitted to nearby rooms were immediately shifted to safe places as soon as the fire was detected.
The air conditioner was completely gutted in the fire and some other equipment also sustained damage. No casualty has been reported.
Security guards and fire personnel reached the spot and swung into action, bringing the flames under control.
Senior officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. The fire service team is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
