New Delhi: Rugby India on Monday announced the Senior Women’s Rugby Sevens squad that will represent the country at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
Among the 13-member Indian squad are four players from Odisha — Dumuni Marndi, Nirmalya Rout, Mama Naik and Sandhyarani Tudu.
Dumuni has been named vice-captain, while Shikha Yadav is the skipper.
The Women’s Rugby event will be held from October 1 to 3 at Paloma Mizuho Rugby Stadium in Nagoya.
India have been placed in Pool B alongside defending champions China, Hong Kong China and Malaysia.
India, having made their Asian Games debut in Women’s Rugby Sevens at the 2010 Guangzhou Games, missed the 2014 and 2018 editions. The team returned at Hangzhou 2022, where India finished seventh.
