Bhubaneswar: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has extended its support to the ongoing agitation in Odisha, under the banner of ‘Nabnirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan’, over alleged errors in school textbooks.
CJP co-convenor Saurav Das, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on Monday as part of their ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign in Odisha, called for the resignation of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, saying that responsibility should be fixed for the mistakes found in textbooks for classes I to VIII.
Das said he visited three schools in Odisha.
“The CJP extends its support to the activists of NYCS who have been demanding reforms in school education and the resignation of (Nityananda) Gond over the errors in the textbooks. We feel that accountability should be fixed for the massive errors in the textbooks and the minister should resign,” Das stated.
The CJP’s call comes a day after opposition BJD’s youth and students wings threatened to gherao the state Assembly building in Bhubaneswar, demanding the resignation of the minister.
Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) has accused the BJP-helmed Odisha government of failing to withdraw flawed textbooks for classes I to VIII even four months after mistakes were flagged.
