Bhubaneswar: Beneficiaries in who are yet to receive pension under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme in Odisha for the past five months will get the pending amount by October.
This information was shared by Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond in a written answer in the Assembly on Friday.
A total of 20,33,959 beneficiaries in the state are covered under the pension scheme, he said.
However, pensions to some beneficiaries have remained unpaid for the last five months due to various technical issues. The state government is aware of the problem and is taking steps to resolve it, the Minister said.
The state government, in coordination with the State Finance Department, Central Government and Treasury authorities, is working to address the technical problems and clear the pending payments, Gond said.
The process is underway to ensure that all affected beneficiaries receive their arrears along with their regular allowance by October, the Minister added.
