Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a stop-work notice over ongoing work at actor Ajay Devgn’s 7,802 sq ft bungalow in Juhu, where a salon and spa have reportedly been proposed.
The notice was issued by the BMC’s K-West ward following a complaint from the Kapol Co-operative Housing Society, where the property is located.
Local corporator Sudha Singh said the civic body’s Building and Factory Department found that permission for the proposed commercial use of the premises had not been submitted.
The BMC subsequently sought the necessary documents from the property owners.
After the required permissions were not furnished, the civic body issued the stop-work notice. The Devgn family has sought four weeks to respond.
The dispute concerns the proposed commercial use of the bungalow at Plot S-10, N S Road No. 11, in the JVPD Scheme.
The housing society’s objection is reportedly not to the property being leased out, but to its proposed use as a commercial establishment.
Residents have raised concerns over increased visitor movement, parking, security and noise on the narrow internal roads.
The Devgn camp, however, has disputed claims that the required approvals are missing.
“The requisite permissions and approvals from the concerned authorities in relation to the proposed use of the premises have been duly obtained,” a source close to the actor was quoted as saying by HT.
