New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert in the capital will go ahead as scheduled after Delhi Police granted permission following a meeting with organisers BookMyShow Live.

Reacting to the development on Friday evening, the singer shared a video reel that appeared to take a humorous dig at the controversy surrounding the event.

Diljit began the video on a cheerful note, saying, “What a good day today! What a good vibes coming!”

In his trademark humorous style, he suggested that people put an end to the reels, debates and tweets surrounding the concert and meet him on October 30 instead.

He also urged them to read the news carefully before jumping to conclusions.

On Thursday, Delhi Police had initially denied permission for the concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing specific threat-related inputs, security concerns and law-and-order commitments amid the ongoing festive season.

However, a senior police officer confirmed on Friday that permission had been granted following a meeting with the organisers and a reconsideration of the earlier decision.

Earlier in the day, BookMyShow Live clarified that reports claiming the Diljit Dosanjh AURA India Tour concert in New Delhi had been cancelled were inaccurate.

The organiser said the permission had been “temporarily withheld” before being reconsidered and granted.

“It is clarified that reports suggesting that the Diljit Dosanjh AURA India Tour concert in New Delhi on 30 October being cancelled are inaccurate. Permission for the event had been temporarily withheld, not cancelled, and the two should not be confused,” the statement read.

Apart from the festive-season rush, the initial denial of permission was also linked to a hoax bomb threat sent to several Delhi schools on the morning of October 15, according to a senior police official.

One of the emails, reviewed by Hindustan Times, warned students against attending Dosanjh’s October 30 concert.

The email reportedly contained pro-Khalistani slogans and was received by six schools, including The British School, Mount Carmel, Ahlcon International School and Ahlcon Public School.

The decision also drew criticism from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, who accused the BJP-led government and Delhi Police of showing “bias” against “brave Punjabis”.

“Real heroes like Diljit Dosanjh supported the farmers’ movement and spoke out against police violence against students. The government is biased against such brave Punjabis. It earlier banned his film Sutlej, which was based on Punjab police atrocities during the militancy,” Bharadwaj wrote on X.
