Mumbai: Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh hit back at the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) during his Delhi concert after the group allegedly mocked his film ‘Satluj’.
Addressing the controversy, Diljit sent a pointed message to his critics, saying that Punjabis do not need to be taught how to fight.
Diljit kicked off his Aura India Tour 2026 with a performance in New Delhi on Friday.
During the concert, the singer addressed the controversy surrounding his “I’m just an artist” remark, which sparked debate a few months ago.
Diljit had made the statement in response to a fan who asked for his views on the exam paper leak protests in India.
His response drew criticism, with several people accusing him of avoiding the question rather than taking a stand.
Among his critics were members of the Cockroach Janata Party, including Abhijit Dipke.
They accused the singer of hypocrisy, questioning his decision not to publicly support the student protests while featuring in politically charged films such as ‘Satluj’.
Taking an indirect dig at the CJP without naming the group, Diljit said, “I love all of you because I am an artist, bro. I am being quiet, so let me stay quiet. I support all of you. But don’t teach Punjabis how to fight.”
Addressing the remarks against ‘Satluj’, the singer added, “The film you are making fun of on stage, Jaswant Singh Khalra’s film — we fought for that film for a long time. I love all of you. If someone hates us, it’s okay. But I love all of you.”

‘Satluj’ is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed alleged illegal killings and secret cremations in Punjab during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Originally titled ‘Panjab 95’, the Honey Trehan-directed film faced years of censorship hurdles before premiering on Zee5 on July 3.
However, it was removed from the platform within 48 hours, drawing criticism from free-speech advocates despite receiving widespread critical acclaim.
Meanwhile, Diljit launched his RuPay AURA India Tour 2026 with a sold-out concert at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday.
The tour marks the India leg of his globally successful Aura Tour and is co-produced by BookMyShow Live and Live Nation, following its successful international run.
