Apple Reveals Government Requests To Remove Apps
Apple, for the first time, has revealed the requests it has got from various countries to remove apps having “unlawful content” from its App Store.
It said that out of 770 apps, the maximum number of requests came from China. A total of 11 countries had filed requests. Apart from China, middle eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Lebanon had also asked for removal of some apps.
Apple also said that the number of such requests have gone down by 10 per cent since the last reporting period (January-June 2018).
Most requests pertained to stolen devices and fraud, said the Cupertino-based company.
