Court Rejects Chidambaram’s Anticipatory Bail Plea in INX Media Case
New Delhi: A court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Union Minister P Chidambaram in the INX Media case.
The rejection opens up the possibility of Chidambaram’s arrest in the case pertaining to alleged illegal clearance given to INX Media to receive massive foreign funds, NDTV reported. Chidambaram and his son, Karti Chidambaram, have been questioned multiple times in the case.
The case involves alleged kickbacks received by Karti Chidambaram in exchange for illegal clearance for INX Media, which was owned by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, to receive foreign funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore. At the time, Chidambaram was the finance minister in the UPA government headed by Manmohan Singh.
Chidambaram has denied any irregularities in the matter.
