Angul: Tension ran high in Angul district on Saturday after a group of students accompanied by locals staged a demonstration in front of Brajamohan Nodal UP School here to protest against the alleged rape of a nine-year-old girl.
According to available information, a Class IV student was allegedly raped by a youth near the school on Friday. The matter came to the fore this morning after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint regarding the incident at Jarapada police station.
Basing on the complaint, police have detained a 24-year-old youth and sent the victim for medical examination.
