National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief YC Modi on Monday said that Bangladesh-based terror group Jamaat-ul Mujahideen was trying to spread its operations across India.
At a meeting of chiefs of Anti Terrorism Squads (ATS), Modi said that the outfit is active in Jharkhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala in the guise of Bangladeshi immigrants.
“The NIA has shared with states concerned a list of 125 suspected activists who have close links with the JMB leadership,” he said.
The terror group has even conducted trial of rocket launchers in the Krishnagiri hills along the Karnataka border, Inspector General of the NIA Alok Mittal said.
The JMB is planning to attack Buddhists temples to avenge Rohingiya Muslims in Myanmar, the IG added.
