Twin City Police Commissioner Accused Of ‘Misbehaviour’, Complaint Lodged

Bhubaneswar: Petroleum Dealers Association, Odisha, president Sasanka Sekhar Sahu on Saturday lodged a complaint against Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi at Capital Police Station here, alleging that the latter had misbehaved with him.

According to the complainant, he had gone to the Commissionerate Police on October 21 to submit an application regarding establishment of a petrol pump after meeting the Governor.

“We wanted an NOC for a petrol pump. We had shot a requisition letter to the Governor and later I took a letter forwarded by the Governor to the Commissioner since he is the approving authority. But surprisingly he behaved very rudely,” Sahu said, alleging that the cop pushed and shoved him.

He said that the entire incident must have been captured in the CCTV cameras at his office and the police should get the footage while probing the matter.

Refuting the allegation, the Commissioner said that he could not attend to Sahu’s grievance on that particular day since he had to attend a Shanti Committee meeting in Cuttack and was already late for it. “He approached me without any prior appointment. When he insisted that the Governor had sent the letter, I asked him not to exert pressure on police and assured him that he will heard soon.”

“After returning from Cuttack, I asked ACP Rabinarayan Satapathy to contact Sahu but he did not show up for four days. Now, he is intentionally raking up the issue in media to garner attention,” he said.

Sarangi further said that he had gone through the application submitted by Sahu and had instructed Bhubaneswar DCP to look into it.

The Commissioner termed Sahu’s allegation that he had insulted the Governor, President and Prime Minister as hilarious. “No government official will ever say that he is above these people. My only request to the public is that they should not pressurize police and understand that we have to adhered to a schedule and protocol,” he added.
