A Bottle Of Water For Rs 3,000, Plate Of Rice Rs 7,000 At Kabul Airport Amidst Threat Of Terror Attack

Kabul:  The situation at the airport here is getting worse as the deadline for evacuation i.e. August 31 is coming closer. People are clamouring to leave the Taliban occupied nation but it is a long haul. Nearly 90,000 Afghans and foreigners have fled Afghanistan via the US-led airlift since the hardline Islamist Taliban movement took control of the country on August 15.  Most of these were foreign citizens or those who possess a visa from some other country.

Western nations, including Australia, France and the UK warned their citizens on Thursday to immediately leave the surroundings of Kabul airport over an imminent terrorist threat from the regional chapter of the Islamic State group.

Amidst all this,  the cost of a bottle of water outside the Kabul airport is up to US$40 roughly Rs 3,000, and a plate of rice is for US$100, which is over Rs 7,000. As if this was not enough, only those people who have US currency can get this water and food, media reports said.

The common people of Afghanistan are waiting for their turn outside the airport in a hell-like situation. More than 50,000 people are still waiting outside the Kabul airport. Because of this, there is such a terrible jam that reaching the airport is a near-impossible task, Zee News reported.
