A Lifetime Bond Of Silence: Mute Couple Marriage Draws Attention In Odisha’s Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal: True love is an expression. A speech impaired couple of Dhenkanal proved this true when the two took the marriage vows here on Tuesday.
The marriage of Sandhyarani and Subhranshu was unique as 25 other differently-abled friends of the couple attended the event.
Sandhyarani, daughter of Dwarikanath Swain of Dasipur village was dumb since childhood but had completed her studies from a deaf and dumb school at Bhubaneswar. A graduate, she is now employed in a private company in Dhenkanal. Subhranshu, son of one Girish Chandra Parida of Ekagharia village at Hindol Road is also speech impaired since childhood.
Their marriage was the talk of the town. As per sources, the speech impaired youth had come to the bride’s home and participated in the wedding besides enjoying the barat and food.
Sign language brought them all together and communicating with each other they bid the couple a happy married life.
Several well-known persons of the district attended the marriage and blessed the couple, said the sources.
