Odisha Tourism in association with Young Indians (Yi) organised a Kite Flying Festival at the Marine Drive Eco Retreat in Konark on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
The colourful event saw professionals from all over India fly designer and LED kites in the shape of a whale, crab, starfish etc. Tourists, locals and in-house guests too participated in flying kites and kite making activities near the shacks. A kite shop has been set up as well from where people can purchase kites. The price starts from Rs. 30 onwards.
The event is eco friendly with cotton threads being used instead of the Chinese or glass manjha, which is harmful for the birds.
