New Delhi: In another major blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi Social Welfare minister Raaj Kumar Anand resigned from his post and also from the party on Wednesday saying that he doesn’t want to be associated with a party associated with corruption.
“The party was born to fight corruption but today the party itself is mired in corruption. I can’t work in this government and I don’t want my name to be associated with this corruption. Arvind Kejriwal once said at Ramlila Maidan, Jantar Mantar ‘the country will change if the politics changes’. Today the politics hasn’t changed but the politician changed,” Anand said.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had raided Anand’s residence in November 2023 in a money-laundering case not connected to the liquor probe.
“I came to politics and then became a minister because of Babasaheb Ambedkar. I wanted to pay back to the society. I do not want to be in a party that takes a backseat as far as Dalit representation is concerned,” Anand said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Health minister Satyendar Jain are in jail in connection with the liquor policy case.
Delhi minister Atishi recently claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to finish AAP and she also had been approached by the saffron party.
BJP sued Atishi her for her comment, challenging her to prove her claim. Anand had said he won’t be going to any other party.
