Cuttack: The Odisha Health Department has ordered for action against the nursing staff of SCB Medical College and Hospital (MCH) here for celebrating Holi in the Trauma ICU of the premier healthcare centre.
In a letter to the superintendent of SCB MCH, Commissioner-cum-Secretray Aswathy S said that the nursing staff put the life of the patents in danger through such carelessness. “You are, therefore, requested to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the erring employees of the institutions and report back immediately,” it added.
On March 15, the SCB MCH management had disengaged three outsourcing employees and issued show cause notice to seven nursing staff for playing colours inside the critical care unit, where over 15 accident victims were undergoing treatment with some of them also on ventilator support.
Some attendants of the patients had then posted about the incident on X, tagging Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Health minister Mukesh Mahaling and demanded appropriate action against the errant staff.
A video of the Holi celebration has also gone viral on social media.
