Bhubaneswar: The active COVID cases in Odisha dropped below 2,000 on Thursday following 430 recoveries and a further decline in daily caseload in the last 24 hours. The state reported 138 new cases on Thursday and 33 among them are children below 18 years of age with the patient tally at 1923.
It is for the fourth consecutive day that the state reported less than 200 new infections with 143 and 168 being found infected on Wednesday and Tuesday.
According to the I & PR department, 78 of the new cases are from quarantine and 60 local contacts. Sambalpur lead the tally with 31 cases followed by Gajapati (18), Jharsuguda (13) and 11 each from Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj. The once hotspot Khurda district reported 7 new cases. No new cases have been detected in nine districts of the state in the last 24 hours.
