Active Nor’wester To Bring Respite From Heatwave In Odisha; Thunderstorm, Squall@50Kmph

Bhubaneswar: Several places in interior Odisha are likely to witness a slight drop in the daytime temperature with Nor’wester becoming active from Sunday, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre tweeted.

The MeT office further said that moisture-laden air from the sea is moving into Odisha from the south, southeast direction. The process of formation of Nor’wester will get expedited when water vapours and wind from above the sea will come in contact with the hot atmosphere. Some districts are expected to experience lightning, thunder and squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph.

Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation on May 4, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood by May 6, it added.

Notably, the weatherman had forecast some relief from severe heatwave conditions in Odisha with a decrease in the maximum temperature by 1-2 degrees Celsius under the influence of the Nor’wester. It had also issued a warning for thunderstorm and lighting from May 1 to 5.
