Activist Suhani Jalota To Attend Royal Wedding Of Meghan-Harry Traditional Way

New Delhi: India’s Suhani Jalota, an activist, and women from her Myna Mahila Foundation, that works promote menstrual hygiene, will be at the most-awaited Royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prine Harry. They will don sarees by Raw Mango, clothing brand of Sanjay Garg.

According to an article in Vogue India, Jalota’s foundation is one of the charities picked by Meghan and Harry to which guests can donate instead of giving them presents. Jalota spoke about choosing Raw Mango for attending the wedding. “Raw Mango has a similar philosophy to ours in encouraging individuality and embodying powerful women. We could really relate to Sanjay Garg’s humble beginning,” she told the Vogue.

The sarees created for Jalota and her Myna ladies are made of Varanasi silk brocade, Chanderi and organza in pastel shades of pale blue, pale pink, light grey and peach. It will be embroidered with Indian motifs such as Chand Buta (crescent moon), marigold flowers and a troop of monkeys.

Designer Sanjay Garg said saree is a symbol rooted in culture, heritage and history. “And, with a diverse use of colour, textile and motifs, the sarees will showcase India’s diversity,” he added.

The Vogue further wrote about how Jalota’s acceptance speech at the Glamour College Women of the Year Awards in 2016 had Meghan Markle approach her. Meghan was moved by her foundation’s work and cause and later reached out to Jalota to see her work. “Last year she was here at Myna. Ever since, she’s been a great guide for us and the work we’re trying to do,” Jalota told Vogue.
