Mumbai: Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is set to play the lead in the much-eagerly awaited biopic of former cricketer Sourav Ganguly.
While confirming this during an interaction with media in Bardhaman on Thursday, the former India Captain said that the film may not go on floors anytime soon due to scheduling conflicts. “From what I’ve heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role, but there are issues of dates, so it will take more than a year to hit the screens.”
Earlier, reports suggested that Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana could be considered for the role.
While no further details about the movie has been revealed so far, the makers are currently working out the dates with Rajkummar, who will next be seen in the film Bhool Chuk Maaf alongside Wamiqa Gabbi.
Additionally, the actor is gearing up for the release of Maalik, a gangster drama slated for release on June 20, 2025. His other projects include Guns & Gulaabs season 2, Stree 3 and Toaster.
