Actor Siddharth Continues To Face Backlash For His Tweet To Saina Nehwal

New Delhi: A day after actor Siddharth’s “sexist” tweet on shuttler Saina Nehwal created a furore, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday took up the matter with Tamil Nadu DGP.

It had earlier asked Twitter to block the account of the actor. “We have not received any reply from them. We are waiting for their reply and we are pursuing with them and want actor Siddharth’s account to be blocked,” NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma told ANI.

“Today also we have written to Tamil Nadu DGP on another incident where he is using abusive language for one of the media person ladies. So, we have taken up that matter and we have written to the DGP again. We are pursuing both cases,” she added

After being criticized for ‘lewd’ comment on Nehwal’s tweet after the lapse in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security on January 5 in Punjab, Siddharth had clarified, “‘Cock and bull’. That’s the reference. Reading otherwise is unfair and leading! Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated. Period.”
Reacting to his post, Nehwal told Etv Bharat, “I used to like him as an actor but this was not nice.”
