Mumbai: Ahead of the municipal polls in Mumbai next year, the Congress is planning to field either actor Sonu Sood, Riteish Deshmukh, actor and son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, or model and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman as the party’s mayoral candidate.
The three names were suggested in a strategy document prepared by the Mumbai Congress unit for the 2022 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.
The 25-page document is drafted by City Congress Secretary Ganesh Yadav and is expected to be presented to AICC Secretary in charge of Maharashtra HK Patil in the next few days.
According to the strategy document, the party should consider those without any political baggage for the post. Also, the person should have some appeal among the youth, it added.
