Mumbai: Bollywood actress and fashionista Sonam Kapoor has snipped off 12 inches of her tresses and donated it to charity.
She took to her Instagram handle to share a video from the salon.
In the video, Sonam is seen grinning and saying, “Hi everyone, so I decided to cut 12 inches of my hair.”
“It doesn’t seem like much on video, but it’s literally a foot of hair!” she added, while holding the strand of chopped hair.
She thanked her father, actor Anil Kapoor, for good genes.
“My hair’s become really long because of my genetics… i.e. Anil Kapoor.”
“Decided to cut off 12 inches off my hair and give it away! @peteburkill thanks @anilskapoor for the genes,” Sonam wrote alongside the video.

On the work front, Sonam will next be seen in ‘Battle for Bittora’, based on Anuja Chauhan’s 2010 bestseller of the same name.
The story revolves around two young politicians, in love with each other, but later, run against each other in an election.
The film is being bankrolled by Anil Kapoor’s production house, in collaboration with Communication Network.
Getting nostalgic about the title track of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’, Sonam told IANS, “I still remember when the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo title track was released—what a time it was! The Dubsmash videos were everywhere. It totally broke the internet.”
“It honestly feels like it happened just yesterday. I’m so touched that people still love the song… it really means a lot!” she added.
Talking about ‘Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai’ from her film ‘Khoobsurat’, Sonam said, “This has always been one of my favourite songs from my career—and it still makes it to my dance playlist!”
“It brings me so much joy to see that the song continues to be a popular party anthem even today.”
