After 500+ Cases For 2 Days, Daily COVID Infections Drop To 388 In Odisha; Weekly TPR Highest In Boudh

Bhubaneswar: After reporting over 500 cases for two days, the daily caseload in Odisha dropped to 388 on Sunday with 6,964 samples being tested in the last 24 hours, the state health department informed.

While the test positivity rate (TPR) stands at 5.57%, the state now has 3,975 active cases.

Odisha had reported 573, the highest in the last eight months, and 526 fresh infections on Saturday and Friday respectively. The daily caseload dropped to 424 on Thursday (April 27) after 542 the previous day (April 26).  Odisha had logged 393 and 392 new cases on Tuesday (April 25) and Monday (April 24) respectively.

The samples being tested has also dropped below 7,000. Odisha had been testing close 7,0000-8,000 samples for last few days.

The state also saw a drop in the weekly TPR (April 22 to April 28) with Boudh topping the list with 27.38%, followed by Sonepur (25.37), Sundargarh (20.31), Sambalpur (17.74), Kalahandi (11.44) and Nuapada (10.79).

Notably, the weekly TPR had shot above 45% in Sambalpur between April 16 and April 22. The western Odisha district had the highest TPR of 48%, followed by 25 per cent in Subarnapur, 21% in Sundargarh, 14.1% in Kalahandi and 13.94% in Nuapada.
