Bhubaneswar: Optimistic about Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) further growth in eastern India, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said the Lotus party is set to win the coming Assembly elections in West Bengal after its victory in Odisha and Bihar.

Joining the campaign in the neighbouring state, Majhi claimed that after Anga (Bihar) and Kalinga (Odisha), it is now Banga’s (West Bengal) turn to see BJP’s victory in the upcoming polls.

The Odisha Chief Minister, who campaigned in Birbhum district, claimed that West Bengal is set to witness a political change in the coming elections as people are fed up with corruption.

“I am confident that people of West Bengal will vote against corruption and for the good governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the senior BJP leader said.

“After observing the political atmosphere and people’s mood, I can tell you that BJP is set form the next government in Bengal. The lotus will bloom this time,” claimed Majhi.

Campaigning by Majhi assumed enormous significance as he belongs to Santal tribe, which happens to be the predominant community in Birbhum district. The district has a significant tribal presence, with Scheduled Tribes accounting for about 6.92% of the district’s population.

The Odisha CM, who joined an impressive roadshow at Rampurhat, said this was his second visit to Bengal for electioneering. He campaigned in Purba Medinipur last month.

Majhi attended nomination rallies of BJP candidates Dhruba Saha (Rampurhat), Nikhil Banerjee (Hansan), Anil Singh (Nalhati) and Rinki Ghosh (Murarai).
