Pune: Raising concern over the resurgence of several temple-mosque disputes, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said some individuals, after the building of the Ayodhya Ram temple, seem to believe that they could become “leaders of Hindus” by highlighting such issues. He also called for an inclusive society, stating that the world needed to be shown how the country can exist and live together in harmony.

In his speech, he highlighted the diverse nature of the Indian society. “Christmas is celebrated in Ramakrishna Mission…only we can do this because we are Hindus,” he said, according to reports.

"After Ram Mandir, some think they can become LEADERS OF HINDUS by raking up similar issues in new places. This is UNACCEPTABLE.
Every day, a new matter is being raked up. How can this be allowed? THIS CAN'T CONTINUE." – RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat ji

Stating that Indian had been living in harmony for long despite its diversity, Bhagwat said Indians need to create a model of harmony for the world. “After the construction of the Ram Mandir, some people think they can become leaders of Hindus by raking up similar issues in new places. This is not acceptable,” he said, as quoted by NDTV.

“Every day a new dispute is raked up…this can’t be allowed”

The RSS chief claimed that the Ram temple was built as it was a matter of faith for all Hindus.

“Every day a new matter (dispute) is being raked up. How can this be allowed? This cannot continue,” he said, without referring to anyone or any particular incident.

The leader claimed that some outsiders had ‘brought with them staunchness’ and they wanted their old rule to return. But the country now runs in accordance with the Constitution, he added, adding people choose their representatives in this set-up.

‘Days of hegemony gone…”

“The days of hegemony are gone,” he added. Bhagwat claimed the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb was characterized by such staunchness.

The RSS chief also blamed the British government in colonial India for its divide and rule policy. He claimed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya should have been given to Hindus but the British created a rift between the two communities. Since then, the ‘algavwad’ (separatism) policy came into being and consequently Pakistan was formed, he added.

“Everyone is equal here…”

Bhagwat asked why the “language of dominance” was being used if everyone in the country identifies himself or herself to be Indian.

“Who is a minority and who is a majority? Everyone is equal here. The tradition of this country is that all can follow their own forms of worship,” he said, adding that the only requirement is to live in harmony and follow the norms.
