Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s highly-anticipated film ‘King’ is getting bigger by the day with its A-lister multi-star cast.
After getting Deepika Padukone on board, the filmmakers have roped in Rani Mukherji for an impactful cameo in the film, as per a report in News18 Showsha.
Sources close to the project revealed that Rani will be playing the role of Suhana Khan’s mother.
“Rani will be playing Suhana Khan’s mother in the film, and her role is instrumental to the emotional arc of the story,” a source told PinkVilla.
“It’s a powerful cameo that serves as the emotional catalyst for the action-thriller. It was a no-brainer. Once she heard the part, Rani was instantly on board. The depth her character brings is crucial to the storyline,” the source added.
After winning hearts with their great chemistry in films like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’, Shah Rukh and Rani’s collaboration in ‘King’ is expected to revive that nostalgia.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’ features Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukherjee, Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhay Verma as of now.
The film, which will reportedly go on floors on May 20, is eyeing an October–December release next year.
