Cuttack: More people continue to fall prey to cyber fraud even as the Twin City Commissionerate Police has ramped announced a host of measures, including helplines and has been creating awareness through different media.
Barely a day after the case of Cuttack-based doctor losing over Rs 77 lakh to cyber criminals hit the headlines, another woman of Madhusudan Nagar in Bidanasi of Cuttack lost Rs 28,000 in a similar case.
As per the complainant Shriya Nayak, working in corporate sector, she had received a call in the name of Amazon employee from an unknown number. That man asked Shriya to update her Amazon App.

Shriya did accordingly and updated her Amazon account following which she received an OTP in her mobile phone. The man called her again and requested for the OTP which Shriya shared with him. Sometime later, the cyber criminals looted Rs 28,008 from her account.

She registered a complaint at Bidanasi police station in this regard. Basing on the complaint, police started investigation into the matter.
Notably, Cuttack-based doctor Dr Sanatan Mohanty lost over Rs 77 lakh to cyber criminals between February 9 and 15. The criminals defrauded him on the pretext of activating his ATM card which was linked to all his bank accounts.
