New Delhi: The anger and protests against Turkey is gaining ground in India with every passing hour.
A day after Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) suspended an agreement with Turkey’s Inonu University citing “national security considerations”, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) announced suspension of any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with any institution affiliated with the Turkish government with immediate effect.
“Due to national security considerations, any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and any institution affiliated with the Government of the Republic of Türkiye stands suspended with immediate effect, until further orders. Jamia Millia Islamia stands firmly with the Nation,” Jamia Millia Islamia stated in a post on X.
Hyderabad’s Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) also announced cancellation of MoU with Yunus Emre Institute, Turkey, with immediate effect.
#BoycottTurkey started trending amidst India’s conflict with Pakistan last week after Turkey criticised New Delhi for conducting Operation Sindoor and openly backed Pakistan.

None other than Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has extended unwavering support to “brotherly Pakistan.”
Turkish drones were used by Pakistan to attack civilians and multiple infrastructure in several Indian cities.
There have been calls to boycott Turkish goods and tourism trips across India in the last few days, with online travel platforms like EaseMyTrip and Ixigo issuing advisories against visiting Turkey and Azerbaijan.
