After Serving Jail Term, Actor Rajpal Yadav’s Property Seized Over Unpaid Loan
Lucknow: The Central Bank of India has seized a property worth crores in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur, belonging to actor Rajpal Yadav.
According to the bank, the seizure was over unpaid loan.
The 53-year-old actor had taken a loan of Rs 3 crore from Central Bank’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) branch in Mumbai after keeping properties in Shahjahanpur owned by his father Naurang Yadav as collateral.
As he defaulted, the outstanding amount swelled to Rs 11 crore.
Last week, a team from the bank’s BKC branch arrived in Shahjahanpur and sealed the property.
The gate of the property, located in the upscale Seth Enclave area of Shahjahanpur, has been locked.
Rajpal, a versatile actor, is especially known for his comedy roles. He has acted in over 150 films in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali.
This isn’t the first time that the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ actor has faced legal issues over unpaid loans. He was sentenced to three months in prison in November 2018 for failing to repay a loan which he had acquired for his directorial debut film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’, produced by his wife Radha Yadav.
The film flopped at the box office, leading to financial losses for Rajpal.
Two years ago, Rajpal was accused of ramming his scooter into a student while shooting in Uttar Pradesh. The student claimed that officials present at the site threatened to kill him if he lodged a complaint.
