After Suspension From Congress, Odisha MLA Mohd Moquim Says Never Worked Against Party & Hopeful Of Revocation Soon
Bhubaneswar: Unperturbed by his suspension from Congress, Odisha MLA Mohammed Moquim said that he has never indulged in any form of anti-party activity and expressed the hope that the action taken against him will turn to be a temporary measure.
Moquim, who represents Barabati-Cuttack Assembly constituency, told media that he has not committed any mistake that can be termed as anti-party activity to invite suspension.
Describing Congress as a great organisation that came into being long before the country’s independence, the legislator said he feels proud of being an active worker of the party and the question of working against its interests does not arise at all.
Stating that Congress has witnessed many ups and downs, Moquim said he is hopeful that the suspension order will be revoked soon and he will get an opportunity to work for rejuvenating the party ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state due next year.
Terming his suspension ahead of the polls, he alleged that the action was taken due to a conspiracy hatched by some people in the party
Moquim further stated that in a meeting he had only reminded Congress people about how despite differences between the two stalwarts of yesteryears J B Patnaik and Basanta Biswal had worked for strengthening the party in state. It was the joint effort of the Congress family in Odisha that enabled the grand old party to return to power in 1995, he said.
The senior leader said whatever he had stated was only aimed at uniting all Congress men and supporters in the state to work together and win back people’s confidence in Congress before the next elections. There was nothing against the party, he added.
It may be noted here that Moquim and former MLA Chiranjib Biswal have been placed under suspension from Congress on charges of indulging in anti-party activities.
