Agni Prime Missile Successfully Test-Fired Off Odisha Coast

Bhubaneswar: India on Saturday successfully test-fired the Agni Prime missile from DRDO’s integrated test range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore district.

The Agni Prime is a new generation advanced variant of Agni class of missiles having a striking range of 1,000 km to 2,000 km. The missile test met all mission objectives with a high level of accuracy, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said in a release.

Agni Prime is a two-stage canisterised solid-propellant ballistic missile with dual redundant navigation and guidance system. The second flight test has proven the reliable performance of all the advanced technologies integrated into the system.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO for the successful test of the Angi Prime missile.

It may be noted that the air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired on December 7 last year. The Defence Ministry had termed the test as a ‘major milestone’ in BrahMos development.
