Meerut: In a strange twist to the Meerut murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated obscene video of his wife Muskan Rastogi and a senior Uttar Pradesh Police officer has now been uploaded on Instagram.
Rajput was allegedly murdered by Muskan and her paramour Sahil Shukla – a friend of the deceased – on March 4, dismembered and stuffed in a drum of wet cement at his home in Meerut. The crime took the nation by storm.
According to the police, the video – which is clearly a fake – shows Muskan in a compromising position with Brahmpuri police station-in-charge Ramakant Pachauri. The video was uploaded on Instagram by a user named Priyanshu.
While it is being suspected that the video was uploaded to discredit the police, officials want to know if the user who calls himself Priyanshu is connected to the crime in any way. An FIR has been lodged against him under Section 67 of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act.
“We want to find out why this Instagram user bears a grudge against the police. Maybe, he is a criminal as well and is somehow related to this murder,” an official said.
The police, meanwhile, claim to have nearly completed their investigation in the Rajput murder. Authorities have also turned down a plea by Muskan and Shukla to be allowed to stay together in jail. Only married couples are allowed to meet, that too, once every 15 days, they have been told.
