Bhubaneswar: After the NEET results were declared, a group of about 30 students of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar decided to launch helpline numbers in multiple languages to help students, aspiring to join various medical colleges across the country.
Hailing from different states, these students are providing details about the best colleges in the country with a special emphasis on the premier healthcare institute in Odisha capital.
The helpline numbers are being run under the umbrella of the students association of the institute and are available in Kannada, Bangla, Hindi, Odia, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and north-eastern languages.
“We felt it is our duty to help NEET qualifiers seeking admissions into different colleges. We are also using the initiative to tell students about AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and its campus life. Through our helplines, we are solving all queries of students and parents, who are confused about picking the best college in their own state or outside,” said Pushpendra, a student of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The help desk comprises students from all corners of the country who were adept at communication, he added.
“We get about one to two queries every day,” said Antony, another student of the institute.
So far, they have attended to more than 150 calls.
