Bhubaneswar: The air quality in Bhubaneswar and two other cities in Odisha remained in the very poor category with Air Quality Index (AQI) levels above 300 at 4 pm on Wednesday.
According to data available on the official website of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Angul recorded an AQI of 337 while Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were at 308 each.
Interestingly, the AQI of Angul was more than that of Delhi (327), which has been battling poor air quality for the last 12 days, and Ghaziabad (329), Greater Noida (322).
Noida recorded the highest AQI level of 350.
At 9 pm on Tuesday, the AQI levels in Cuttack (333) and Angul (335) were close to or surpassed that of Delhi (333). Bhubaneswar recorded an AQI of 327, while Balasore stood at 307, both falling under the ‘very poor’ bracket as well.
This level indicates that the air quality poses a significant health risk, particularly for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.
