Mumbai: Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi have been served with legal notices by a Pune court for mocking and insulting the Indian judiciary.
The notices were issued following a complaint by lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar, who claimed that Akshay and Arshad’s upcoming film ‘Jolly LLB3’ portrays the legal system and court proceedings in a derogatory manner.
The complainant also objected to a scene in the film where judges are being referred to as ‘mamu’.
Akshay and Arshad have been directed to appear before the court on September 28.
Last year in May, Ajmer District Bar Association president Chandrabhan had filed a complaint against ‘Jolly LLB 3’ makers for disrespecting Indian judiciary.
He had also urged the court to direct shooting of ‘Jolly LLB 3’ be stopped.
“This decision has been taken considering the first and second parts of Jolly LLB. It seems that the filmmakers, directors and actors do not respect the dignity and prestige of the judiciary of the country’s Constitution at all. The shooting of Jolly LLB 3 is going on in the surrounding villages and areas including the DRM office of Ajmer, which will continue for several days. Even during the shooting of this film, the actors of the film do not seem to be at all serious about the image, prestige and dignity of the judiciary including the judges,” Chandrabhan was quoted as saying by NBT.
