Mumbai: Bollywood’s khiladi Akshay Kumar is preparing to team up with versatile actress Rani Mukerji for the third instalment of the popular comedy-drama franchise ‘Oh My God 3’, suggest reports.
Helmed by Amit Rai, the film, currently in pre-production stage, is expected to go on floors in mid-2026.
“This is easily one of the biggest castings in recent years. Oh My God is among Akshay Kumar’s most loved franchises, and it’s only getting bigger with Rani Mukerji joining the film. Her presence will add immense gravitas and freshness to the narrative,” a source close to the project was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.
The source added that Rani’s entry has added both freshness and somberness to the project.
“Director Amit Rai has cracked a story that is bigger, more relevant, and hard-hitting than the earlier films. Akshay was clear that OMG 3 had to scale up in every aspect, from story and emotions to performances. Rani coming on board has made the film even bigger,” the source added.
The ‘Oh My God’ franchise, with its sharp social commentary and humour, attracts mass appeal, and created a special place in Hindi cinema.
The first two instalments of ‘Oh My God’ franchise were commercially successful and widely discussed for their storyline and social message.
This makes the third instament one of the highly-anticipated upcoming projects. Now, Rani’s possible entry makes it even more exciting.
