Allow People To Visit Markets To Buy Essential Commodities, Traders Body Urges BMC

Bhubaneswar: Taking note that the Commissionerate Police are restricting the movement of the denizens during the COVID-19 lockdown, the stakeholders of the market associations on Monday urged the authorities of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to allow the people to visit the daily markets and haats to purchase essential household commodities.

During a meeting at the BMC office at Samantarapur, the representative of the wholesalers and market associations requested the BMC Commissioner to issue necessary directions to ensure free movement of fruit, vegetable and grocery vendors and their associated staff and free movement of goods across inter-state borders to ensure that prices of commodities are in check.

They also requested the commissioner to make arrangements for the supply of liquid hand wash for the members of the market associations.
