‘Almost Naked’ Party Angers President Putin; Russian Rapper Jailed
Moscow: Even as Russia’s war in Ukraine continues, the talk of the town right now is an ‘almost naked’ party.
The party, organised by blogger Anastasia (Nastya) Ivleeva at Moscow’s Mutabor nightclub on December 21, has angered Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported Reuters.
There was bound to be some ramification, and a rapper by the name of Nikolai Vasilyev had to pay the price.
Having attended the party with only a sock to cover himself, Vasilyev has been sent to prison for 15 days by a Moscow court and fined 200,000 roubles ($2,182) for propaganda of ‘non-traditional sexual relations.’
Russian troops engaged in military action in Ukraine reportedly complained about the party.
Putin, who was shown photographs of the party, was extremely miffed by the scandalous event.
Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asked reporters to avoid discussing the ‘almost naked party’.
“Let you and I be the only ones in the country who aren’t discussing this topic,” Peskov said.
Once images and videos of the party went viral, there was criticism from all quarters including bloggers, state media and Orthodox Church groups.
“To hold such events at a time when our guys are dying in the (Ukrainian) special military operation and many children are losing their fathers is cynical,” said Yekaterina Mizulina, director of Russia’s League for a Safe Internet.
Party organiser Ivleeva, who reportedly wore jewellery worth 23 million roubles ($251,000), has issued two public apology videos following the furore over the event.
In one of the messages on December 27, a teary-eyed Ivleeva expressed regret and pleaded for “a second chance.”
