Keonjhar: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) presented the ‘Beti Padhao Scholarships’ to 97 meritorious girl students from Keonjhar district of Odisha.
As part of its flagship CSR initiative, the scholarship programme is designed to support girls from economically weaker sections (EWS) by easing financial barriers and helping them pursue their academic goals.
The initiative is aligned with the government’s efforts to promote the education of the girl child. The scholarship recipients range from Class 9 students to those pursuing higher secondary education, undergraduate degrees, ITI, diplomas, engineering, medical, and other professional courses, as well as state-level and national-level athletes.
The ‘Beti Padhao Scholarships’ are awarded to candidates meticulously shortlisted through a selection framework ensuring merit and need-based eligibility. AM/NS India has partnered with Protean eGov Technologies for mobilising the scholarships. Protean’s Vidyasaarathi, a pioneering corporate scholarship management platform, has managed the complete scholarship lifecycle, including application, validation, allocation, and fund disbursement of the AM/NS India scholarships.
The scholarships were presented to the recipients by Mandardhar Mahalik, ADM, Keonjhar, in the presence of AM/NS India leadership including Shailendra Sah, Vice President, Projects, Jaiwardhan Paroha, Plant Head, Beneficiation Plant, Dabuna, Ajit Singh, Head – Pipeline Projects, Odisha and Banaj Khatua, Head – HR, Beneficiation Plant, Dabuna. The event was also attended by students, teachers, and parents of the beneficiaries.
Mandardhar Mahalik, said, “Educating and empowering the girl child is a cornerstone for building a stronger nation. Through initiatives like the Beti Padhao Scholarships, we are not only supporting the academic aspirations of young girls from Kendujhar but also enabling them to pursue higher studies, professional courses, and sports with confidence. This effort will help them realize their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Under the ‘Beti Padhao Scholarship’ initiative, AM/NS India is awarding scholarships to girl students in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Since its inception in March 2022, the initiative has positively impacted over 2,200 underprivileged girl students across India.
