Mumbai: Consumer behaviour has been increasingly shifting online since the pandemic began. Overall, the online sector for the smartphone market has increased to 43 per cent in Q2 of 2020.
Amazon is leading the chart with a 47 per cent share, while Flipkart stands at 2nd position with 42 per cent share, analyst firm Counterpoint Research said. Flipkart’s share has reduced, though it is leading in the sub-Rs 10,000 market.
Since the pandemic, no offline-exclusive model has been launched while 11 online-exclusive ones have been introduced.
Xiaomi is still leading the sales chart with 44 per cent market share, despite the anti-China sentiments in the country. Redmi 8A Dual is its top-selling phone.
Samsung, too, has increased its online share to 25 per cent, its highest ever. Samsung also crossed Vivo for the 2nd position in overall sales. Realme and Oppo stood 4th and 5th, respectively.
However, the overall sales of smartphones declined in Q2 with 18.2 million units shipped, according to data released by International Data Corporation.
