Bhubaneswar: Climate scientists, researchers and academics from across the country and diplomatic representatives from eight countries are expected to attend a two-day âInternational Conclave on Climate Change and Global WarmingâIssues and Prospectsâ being held at the Siksha âOâ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here on June 10 and 11.
The urgent need to pursue methods to combat the effect of climate change and adopt appropriate strategies for sustainable development will be discussed during the event. âThe conclave, being organised by SOA, will feature interdisciplinary sessions on climate sciences, rising heat wave, earth system modeling, extreme weather events, water resource management and sustainable development,â Vice-Chancellor of SOA, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, said.
Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from seven European and South American countries and the island nation of Seychelles are expected to attend the conclave to share their country specific experiences and perspectives, Prof. Nanda said.
The objective of the conclave, he said, is to mobilize knowledge and forge a path towards a more sustainable and climate resilient future.
The diplomatic representatives of other countries in India expected to attend the event include Alberto Guani, Ambassador of Uruguay, Javier Paulinich, Ambassador of Peru, Fernando Bucheli, Ambassador of Ecuador, Omar Castaneda Solares, Ambassador of Guatemala, Juan Antonio March Pujol, Ambassador of Spain, Antonio Bartoli, Ambassador of Italy, Lalatiana Accouche, High Commissioner of Seychelles and Kayshav Tewari, Diplomat, High Commission of Guyana.
The conclave will have different sessions spread over the two days. The broad themes include âScience and Climate Change: Indian Scenarioâ, âOcean-Atmosphere-Space based observationsâ, âEarth System Modelingâ, âImpact of Climate Change on Food Securityâ, âEffect on Energy and Water Availabilityâ and âImpact on Urban Infrastructureâ, Prof Uma Charan Mohanty, General Chair for the conclave and Distinguished Professor at SOA, said.
