Chennai: There was fresh speculation over Vijay’s much-awaited film ‘Jana Nayagan’ after an A-rated certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) began circulating on social media.
The viral document left fans confused, especially after the film’s theatrical release was pushed back by seven months.
The viral CBFC certificate also purported to detail the cuts and modifications allegedly suggested by the certification body for the film starring Vijay, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde.
However, the certificate has now been confirmed to be fake, putting an end to rumours surrounding the film’s certification status.
On Saturday, a fan account posted a ‘censor certificate’ for ‘Jana Nayagan’, claiming that the film has been granted A certification by the board.
The post further claimed that the board’s alleged modification list included muting expletives, trimming visuals involving ‘Collector Shanmugam,’ reducing blood splatter, toning down violent sequences, and making several other edits.
Following backlash, the X account apologised. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The previously shared #JanaNayagan certificate was fake.”
KVN Productions has not issued any statement.

In recent months, the makers have repeatedly expressed confidence that the film will complete the certification process and be ready for release soon.
In May, producer Venkat K Narayana told media, “As I told, we’re waiting for the certificate to come. I am sure that they’re going to give it anytime soon.”
