Mumbai: Moviegoers are in for a spy showdown as Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s ‘Alpha’ goes head-to-head with Huma Qureshi and brother Saqib Saleem’s ‘Baby Do Die Do’, the first film produced under the siblings’ banner.
Amid the promotional buzz, Huma appeared on Tanmay Bhatt’s YouTube channel for a candid chat that turned into a laugh riot.
During the conversation, Tanmay jokingly compared ‘Alpha’ with ‘Baby Do Die Do’, prompting Huma to shoot back with a witty one-liner, “I would go to Latent.”
Her savage comeback instantly caught fans’ attention, with the hilarious banter quickly making the rounds on social media.
“Huma, I am so happy for you. It’s like you have proven that if you stick to your mission and if you work hard and you stay focused, one day you can also lose your box office to Alpha and it is exciting for all of us,” Tanmay said.
The remark left everyone on the panel, including Rohan Joshi and Aaditya ‘Kullu’ Kulshreshth, in splits.
Huma was not one to take it lying down.
“Thanks Tanmay. It is a very small film, very tiny film, independently made, independently produced, also releasing on our own. So we are a very small film, and if you want a big film, I would go to like Latent and not come here.”
The joke struck a chord with the viewers because Alia and Sharvari had promoted ‘Alpha’ on the premiere episode of Raina’s controversial show, ‘India’s Got Latent’ Season 2 on Netflix, making Huma’s cheeky reference all the more timely.
Directed by Nachiket Samant, ‘Baby Do Die Do’ also stars Sikandar Kher, Chunky Panday, Rachit Singh, Marudha Shekhawat, Vidya Malvade, Arun Kushwah and Himanshu Malik.
‘Alpha’, on the other hand, also features Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in key roles, with a cameo appearance by Hrithik Roshan.
At the box office, ‘Baby Do Die Do’ had a modest opening on Friday, earning over Ras 40 lakh from 778 shows across theatres.
‘Alpha’ got off to a much stronger start, collecting Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day, with a massive release spanning 7,534 shows nationwide.
